(1) By far the majority of these meals are
served and/or delivered to the struggling aged.
(2) This is an annual initiative
whereby the struggling aged are invited to attend special
Christmas functions throughout the country. Here they are served
a hearty meal, are entertained, and are introduced to the many
other services that are offered by Meals on Wheels. These
functions also provide an excellent opportunity for the lonely
to meet new friends. In 2008, Christmas functions were held at
over 245 venues countrywide. In addition, 7,082 special
Christmas hampers were presented to those Senior Citizens who,
for one reason or another, were unable to attend the functions.
(3) Includes: 110 Service Centers,
121 dedicated Meals on Wheels branches, 4 Old Age Homes, 4
